Warhammer Online: Mark Jacobs, gold sellers and hell
Welcome on blog about gold in Warhammer. As you already know, there is an ongoing debate in the online gaming community over how gold farming affects economy of the game. What gold farming ultimately does to the games economy is cause economic growth. More players are playing more often, which generates more currency and more items and creates value added services.
Why I’m writing about these things? Well, 23 September Chief executive Mark Jacobs has placed on his blog very interesting post about gold sellers, his motto is simple: „hate gold sellers” Well Mr. Jacobs revealed his and EA Mythic’s “zero tolerance policy” against gold farmers in Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning, first step was huge ban campaign against them and around 400 bans after game premiere. Jacobs said, “We don’t wait and let them stay in the game and ban them en-masse, my guys ban their useless, time-consuming butts right away” – oh man this guy is really serious. EA Mythic is starting a WAR against gold farmers, crusade or something like that, we should be ready for another massive “public executions”.
What is interesting Mark has been asked by one of major gold selling company to close eyes on gold sellers “I’ve been offered “a piece of the action” both personally and corporately in the past if I will either turn a blind eye or help them in their actions”, his answer was “Go to Hell” ;-).
On the end we may ask question, they are really planning to win this war, or they are dust talking to make a lot of noise? I’m really interested how many players will be banned as a part of their very offensive policy.
Anyway I know for sure banning players is sometimes good way to get more money, by selling additional game copy….
See you again
